Doyenne of the Consular Corps NRW.
Lídia Nabais
Portuguese Consul General in Düsseldorf, since 21.09.2020.
Doyenne of the Consular Corps in NRW since 28.08.2023.
About myself:
I’ve been a diplomat since 1999. During my career, I’ve taken responsibilities abroad as Secretary of Embassy in Algiers and Paris, as well as at home, as attaché in the Cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Head of Unit for Asia and the Pacific and Director for the Americas.
I really enjoy the opportunities of the diplomatic career to discover new countries and different cultures, as well as to make friends from all over the world.
In NRW I have found a welcoming people and I have worked to consolidate the friendship ties that bind Germany and Portugal, through networking activities with the local Government and Parliament, municipalities, economic and cultural actors, and civil society organisations.
I am also responsible for supporting the interests of the Portuguese Community in NRW, mainly composed from working people who came during the 1960’s and their descendants, who are well integrated in the local society and culturally very active through several associations throughout the territory.
Together with my 2 daughters and my 3 dogs, I have fallen in love with beautiful Rhine, thriving Ruhr, historical Westphalia and many other amazing places in this region.
And I’ve discovered Altbier but may also enjoy cool Kölsch or Pils! 😊
